Phil Galvin

Technical Director
of the NBA Basketball School, Dubai

Considered one of the US top skill development instructors, Galvin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him to the NBA Basketball School Dubai.  He arrives in Dubai, having most recently served as the Technical Director of the NBA Basketball School in Turkey. 

A native of the Bay Area in the United States, Galvin was an All-State performer in basketball at Antioch High School. He played collegiately at Santa Rosa Junior College before accepting a Division I scholarship to Mount St. Mary’s College in Maryland.  There he played for legendary coach Jim Phelan, one of college basketball’s all time win leaders.  Galvin was selected to the Northeast Conference (NEC) All-Newcomer team and was named NEC player of the week three times.

After graduation, he began his coaching career at The University of San Francisco, where he spent five seasons as an assistant coach and was a part of the 1998 NCAA tournament team. Phil then spent 20 years working as the Basketball Director at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, which is known as one of the finest private athletic clubs in the world. There he created comprehensive basketball training programs that included camps, clinics, training, teams, as well as adult and youth leagues.

Katie Batlin

Head Coach

The NBA Basketball School in Dubai is proud to announce the addition of Katie Batlin to our coaching staff.  As a star player in the United States, Katie was nominated to the prestigious McDonald’s All-American team and was named the California Player of the Year. She received a full scholarship to play collegiately at St. Mary’s College.

Godlove Cham Cham

Godlove Cham Cham joins our NBA technical team from Cameroon, Africa, where he spent many years building his very own Basketball Academy, Basketball Plus Academy. With Godlove, the NBA school in Dubai gains a plethora of passion and deep dedication to the game and to the students.

Jamal Whaley

The NBA Basketball School in Dubai is proud to announce the addition of Jamal Whaley to our staff in 2022. An accomplished FIBA certified coach with extensive experience, Coach Whaley brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our program. 

David Olorogun

The NBA Basketball School would like to welcome David Olorogun to our program here in Dubai.  Originally from London, David previously served as the Basketball Operations Manager at Ball Out the Box in London.  That program engaged over 1200 kids annually to participate in basketball programs.  

Alberto Garcia

The NBA Basketball School in Dubai is proud to welcome Alberto Garcia to our staff in 2023.  Coach Garcia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our NBA School program.  ‘We are very excited to add Coach Garcia to our team – he is a huge addition to our project here in Dubai, ‘ commented Technical Director Phil Galvin.  ‘He has a vast array of coaching experience and was selected to our team from a pool of almost 400 candidates.’ 

Hassan Mohamed

Hassan Mohamed has joined the NBA Basketball School staff in Dubai, the program announced in January.  Coach Mohamed joins our team after recently serving as the U16 and U18 Girls National Team Coach in the Maldives. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach Talons Basketball Club in the National Basketball League of the Maldives.  ‘We are thrilled to have Coach Mohamed on our staff, ‘ express NBA School Technical Director Phil Galvin.  ‘He is a bright young coach that I have no doubt will flourish in our program.’  Additionally, Coach Hassan graduated with honors in the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program.

Yousuf Abubakar

The NBA Basketball School in Dubai is proud to welcome Yusuf Abubakar to our program.  A passionate leader, Yusuf brings a wealth of experience to our program.  A former professional player in Qatar and Nigeria, he also played on the Nigerian Senior National team. As a coach, he has served in several capacities in Dubai.  ‘Yusuf is tremendous.  His passion is infectious and he is truly dedicated to improving in his kraft.  He has made an immediate impact in our NBA Basketball School program,’ expressed Technical Director Phil Galvin, ‘we are thrilled to have him on our team.’  Welcome Coach Yusuf!

Jeff Mepico

The NBA Basketball School in Dubai is proud to welcome Jeff Mepico to our technical team.  A former high school and collegiate player, Jeff previously worked on the staff at Mpac sports.  ‘He has a strong technical knowledge of the game and is incredibly passionate – two traits we are looking for in our program,’ expressed Technical Director Phil Galvin. ‘Helping kids learn to play the game that I love is my passion,’ he explained, I’ve been playing basketball since I was around 6 years old and I love sharing my passion for the game with our next generation.’  Coach Jeff holds a USA Gold coaching license. Wavy Kuveya

The NBA Basketball School in Dubai is proud to welcome Wavy Kuveya to our technical team.  An outstanding coach and leader, Coach Wavy previously worked on the staff’s at Star Basketball Academy, the Al Wasl Club, and St. Georges College in Zimbabwe.

‘We were very impressed with Coach Wavy’s passion and technical skills. He has been very dedicated to the profession and has a knack for connecting with players,’ explained Technical Director Phil Galvin, ‘We are thrilled to have him as a part of The NBA Basketball School family here in Dubai.’  Coach Wavy holds a Fiba and USA Gold Coaching license.

Kevin Sancho

The NBA Basketball School in Dubai is proud to welcome Kevin Sancho to our team in 2023. A dynamic young coach with tremendous passion, he played collegiately at Ateneo de Naga University in the Philippians. He earned a degree in Business Administration and Management. Coach Kevin has been sharing his love of the game for the last 8 years, most recently at Mac Sports in Dubai. ‘Coach Kevin was very impressive during his multiple interviews. He has a vibrant love of the game, as well as a high technical understanding of teaching the basics well,’ expressed Technical Director Phil Galvin, ‘we are very fortunate to be adding him to our team.’ Coach Kevin also hold a Human Kinetics Certification and his personal motto is ‘Values before Skills.’ Welcome to our team!

Joanah Nabisenke

Susana is the Head of Operations for the NBA Basketball School in Dubai.  She oversees all aspects of service quality, client relationships, logistics, processes, and procedures, as well as overall performances.
