We are extremely excited to announce the hiring of Phil Galvin as the new NBA Basketball School Dubai Technical Director starting March 27th, 2021.

Considered one of the US top skill development instructors, Galvin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him to the NBA Basketball School Dubai.  He arrives in Dubai, having most recently served as the Technical Director of the NBA Basketball School in Turkey.

A native of the Bay Area in the United States, Galvin was an All-State performer in basketball at Antioch High School. He played collegiately at Santa Rosa Junior College before accepting a Division I scholarship to Mount St. Mary’s College in Maryland.  There he played for legendary coach Jim Phelan, one of college basketball’s all time win leaders.  Galvin was selected to the Northeast Conference (NEC) All-Newcomer team and was named NEC player of the week three times.

After graduation, he began his coaching career at The University of San Francisco, where he spent five seasons as an assistant coach and was a part of the 1998 NCAA tournament team. Phil then spent 20 years working as the Basketball Director at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, https://www.healthytask.us/drugs/lasix-water-pill/ which is known as one of the finest private athletic clubs in the world. There he created comprehensive basketball training programs that included camps, clinics, training, teams, as well as adult and youth leagues.

As the Technical Director of NBA Basketball School Dubai, Galvin will be tasked with a number of opportunities surrounding player, coach, and program development. “We are extremely excited to have Phil join the NBA Basketball School Dubai Team as the Technical Director” Said Seif Tawfik CEO of Stryx Sports   “Phil has developed a reputation globally as an elite level player development and programming director. We are thrilled that now we and our players will have access to his incredible expertise”

Coach Galvin also launched Super Skills Basketball in 2003. Its programs, ranging from camps and clinics to Elite level AAU teams, served over 3000 kids annually at its peak.  “I am extremely excited to join the team at NBA Basketball School Dubai,” Galvin said. “We have a tremendous opportunity to bring world class basketball training and development, competition, leagues, camps, events, and coaching clinics – to the UAE.  My goal is to continue to build on the previous success of our camps and school program.  We are just scratching the surface of what can be done by the NBA in Dubai.”

Phil Galvin joins us at a very exciting time, where he will be leading and running our NBA Basketball School Dubai Spring Camp himself along with his team from the 4th to the 8th of April. In this camp each participant will feel like a truly NBA player and enjoy an amazing one week of a 100% NBA experience.
